The Integral Worldview Made Simple

by Lawrence Wollersheim

At this moment in time, a dynamic, new worldview appears to have burst upon the global stage. It is called the integral worldview. A worldview is a meta-paradigm of reality, a unifying cultural consciousness that both underlies and conditions an individual's way of knowing, seeing and acting in the world.

A new worldview emerges when the previous worldview no longer adequately solves new problems that are arising. Each new worldview provides more effective solutions that simply cannot be seen from within the constraints of the previous worldview.

One question that comes to mind with this article is:

What criteria are we using when someone says "each new worldview provides more effective solutions that simply cannot be seen from within the constraints of the previous worldview"?

How do we know if the "new worldview" is more advanced than the previous millieu of worldviews?

What if the new 'paradigm' is just different - related to a horizontal shift in life conditions - rather than a vertical change in complexity?

Is history just that simple?

What do you think?

Many assumptions in his essay.

I sometimes wonder if the many so-called "integrals" use critical thinking skills?

Is critical thinking not a part of "higher" waves of consciousness?

PS- I do consider myself in favor of Wilber's project.
